ประโยคสำหรับขอร้อง (Request)ในภาษาอังกฤษ
ถ้าต้องการขอความช่วยเหลือสามารถพูดว่า
- Would you help me?
- Would you do me a favor?
- Please help me!
- Can you help me?
- Would you assist me?
- Can I ask you for a favor?
- Will you help me with this problem?
ถ้าต้องการร้องขอให้ใครบางคนช่วยคุณแก้ไขปัญหา สามารถพูดได้ว่า
- I’m stuck on this problem; can you help me?
- I need your help with this matter.
- Can you help me with this problem?
- Can you help me in the matter?
- Can you help me with this matter?
- I need your help on this question.
ประโยคขอร้อง การขอร้องให้ผู้อื่นทำอะไรก็ควรพูดให้สุภาพเข้าไว้ จะไปพูดห้วนๆ กระโชกโฮกฮากเขาก็คงจะไม่ช่วยเรา การขอร้องมีหลายระดับตั้งแต่ขอร้องเชิงคำสั่ง ขอร้องแบบสุภาพและสุภาพมาก
1. ประโยคคำสั่ง (Command) คือประโยคสั่งให้ทำ ซึ่งประโยคคำสั่งจะขึ้นต้นด้วยคำกริยาได้เลย ไม่มีประธานค่ะ ถ้าเติม please เข้าไปก็จะเป็นการขอร้องให้ทำ เช่น
- Please turn on the light.
กรุณาเปิดไฟหน่อย - Sit down, please.
กรุณานั่งลง - Please don’t park here.
กรุณาอย่าจอดรถที่นี่
2. ประโยคขอร้องแบบคำถาม ประโยคแบบนี้จะใช้กันบ่อยที่สุด เพราะแสดงถึงความสุภาพมากกว่าแบบแรก ประโยคคำถามที่ใช้ก็มีหลายแบบอีกเช่นกัน คือ
2.1 Yes/No question
- Will / Can you………….,please?
- Would / Could you……………,please? (สุภาพกว่า will / can)
- Do you mind…..? / Would you mind……..?
เช่น
- Would you mind opening the door?
คุณจะรังเกียจมั้ยที่จะเปิดประตูให้หน่อย - Could you tell me the way to the nearest hospital please?
ช่วยบอกทางไปโรงพยาบาลที่ใกล้ที่สุดให้หน่อยได้มั้ย
2.2 Indirect question
- I wonder if you……….
- I wonder If you’d mind……..
