โครงสร้างประโยคพื้นฐานในภาษาอังกฤษ

โครงสร้างที่ 1 : Subject + Verb (ประธาน + กริยา)

คำกริยาแบ่งเป็น 2 ประเภท คือ
1. อกรรมกริยา (Intransitive Verb) คือ กริยาที่ไม่ต้องการกรรม (Object) มารองรับ
2. สกรรมกริยา (Transitive Verb) คือ กริยาที่ต้องมีกรรมมารองรับ

ในโครงสร้างที่ 1 มีเพียงประธานกับอกรรมกริยา (Intransitive verb) หรือกริยาที่ไม่ต้องการกรรม (Object) ก็เป็นประโยคที่สมบูรณ์เข้าใจได้  เช่น

She works .
(เธอทำงาน)

He gets up.
(เขาตื่นนอน)

นอกจากนี้เราสามารถขยายความประโยคได้โดยเติมคำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives) หรือ คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ (Adverbs) เข้าไปในประโยค เช่น

She works hard.
(เธอทำงานหนัก)
hard = กริยาวิเศษณ์ (Adverb) ที่มาขยาย works

He gets up early.
(เขาตื่นแต่เช้า)
early = กริยาวิเศษณ์ (Adverb) ที่มาขยาย gets up

โครงสร้างที่ 2 : Subject + Verb + Object (ประธาน + กริยา + กรรม)

ในโครงสร้างที่ 2 จะใช้สกรรมกริยา (Transitive Verb) หรือกริยาที่ต้องการกรรม (Object) เช่น

I read a book.
(ฉันอ่านหนังสือ)

Mark kicks the ball.
(มาร์กเตะลูกบอล)

เราสามารถขยายความประโยคได้ด้วยการเติมคำคุณศัพท์ (Adjectives) หรือ คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ (Adverbs) เข้าไปในประโยค เช่น

Mark kicks the yellow ball.
(มาร์กเตะลูกบอลสีเหลือง)
yellow = คำคุณศัพท์ (Adjective) มาขยาย ball

I read a book every day.
(ฉันอ่านหนังสือทุกวัน)
every day = คำกริยาวิเศษณ์ (Adverbs) ขยาย read เพื่อบอกความถี่ในการอ่าน

โครงสร้างที่ 3 : Subject + Verb + Indirect Object + Direct Object (ประธาน + กริยา + กรรมรอง + กรรมตรง)

กรรม (Object) หลัก ๆ ในภาษาอังกฤษมี 3 ชนิด คือ
1. Direct Object (กรรมตรง) คือ กรรมที่รับการกระทำจากกริยาโดยตรง เช่น ในโครงสร้างที่ 2 จะเป็นกรรมตรง
2. Indirect Object (กรรมรอง) คือ กรรมที่ได้ผลประโยชน์จากการกระทำ
3. Prepositional object (กรรมของบุพบท) คือ กรรมที่ต่อท้ายบุพบท

My mother bought me a new toy.
(แม่ของฉันซื้อของเล่นใหม่ให้ฉัน)

Prepositions of Place: at, in, on

In general, we use:

• at for a POINT
• in for an ENCLOSED SPACE
• on for a SURFACE

at POINT	in ENCLOSED SPACE	on SURFACE
at the corner	in the garden	on the wall
at the bus stop	in London	on the ceiling
at the door	in France	on the door
at the top of the page	in a box	on the cover
at the end of the road	in my pocket	on the floor
at the entrance	in my wallet	on the carpet
at the crossroads	in a building	on the menu
at the front desk	in a car	on a page

Look at these examples:

• Jane is waiting for you at the bus stop.
• The shop is at the end of the street.
• My plane stopped at Dubai and Hanoi and arrived in Bangkok two hours late.
• When will you arrive at the office?
• Do you work in an office?
• I have a meeting in New York.
• Do you live in Japan?
• Jupiter is in the Solar System.
• The author’s name is on the cover of the book.
• There are no prices on this menu.
• You are standing on my foot.
• There was a “no smoking” sign on the wall.
• I live on the 7th floor at 21 Oxford Street in London.

Notice the use of the prepositions of place at, in and on in these standard expressions:

at	in	on
at home	in a car	on a bus
at work	in a taxi	on a train
at school	in a helicopter	on a plane
at university	in a boat	on a ship
at college	in a lift (elevator)	on a bicycle, on a motorbike
at the top	in the newspaper	on a horse, on an elephant
at the bottom	in the sky	on the radio, on television
at the side	in a row	on the left, on the right
at reception	in Oxford Street	on the way
